Typo All

“Typo All” is a full field of fired words. Hundreds of stamped, fractured letter-forms saturate the surface until meaning dissolves into rhythm and static — language seen as force and as evidence rather than message. Every character here was hand-carved by the artist into different materials, like seals or stamps, and pressed into the canvas — a residue of Pfishova’s fascination with relief and intaglio printing, and with the old crafts of woodcut, linocut and the graphic print. She carries these traditions into painting to give them a second life, in homage to the old masters of the press such as Albrecht Dürer. Each mark is an intention released and a trace left behind, thought caught at the moment it becomes act — writing held between power and consequence, between the shot and the record, the point where communication stops meaning and starts to testify.
